Commuting from North Texas' Growing Communities

One of the biggest questions for new-home buyers: how's the commute? A look at getting around from the fast-growing edges of the metroplex.

When you choose a home on the growing edge of North Texas, the commute is often top of mind. The good news: the region's expanding highway network keeps even outer-suburb communities well connected to major job centers.

The corridors that connect the region

US-75 links the northern suburbs — Melissa, Anna, and Sherman — directly to Plano, Richardson, and central Dallas. US-380 runs east–west across the northern tier, while the developing Outer Loop is steadily improving connectivity between fast-growing communities.

To the east, communities around Royse City and Rockwall reach downtown Dallas, Plano, and Frisco in roughly 50 minutes via I-30 and connecting highways.

Plan around your daily destinations

When evaluating a community, map your real routes — to work, schools, and the places you visit most. A few minutes' difference in location can meaningfully change a daily commute, so it's worth test-driving at the times you'd actually travel.

Growth brings more connection

As North Texas grows, so does its infrastructure. Road expansions and new interchanges continue to shorten drive times, making today's outer suburbs more convenient every year.
